Fishing where the Lot meets the Truyère

Entraygues is an angling village, and you can see why at a glance: two rivers meet here, and the reservoirs in the gorges extend the water upstream. The banks in the village are a few minutes from the cottage.

Two rivers, two characters

The confluence at Entraygues brings together two very different watercourses. The Truyère, a dammed river, alternates calm reaches with livelier stretches depending on releases. The Lot, wider and slower downstream of the village, lends itself more to predators and coarse fish.

Heading up towards the gorges, the successive reservoirs of Couesques, Cambeyrac and, higher still, Lac de Sarrans, open up a very large playground.

Before you set off

A fishing permit is compulsory. It can be bought online at cartedepeche.fr or from outlets in the village. Check the category of the stretch, the open season and the legal sizes: they vary from one section to another, and the rules on the Lot are not those on the Truyère.

One last piece of advice: Truyère levels depend on the dams. A bank that was walkable yesterday may not be tomorrow morning. Have a look before settling in.
