Getting to Entraygues-sur-Truyère

The cottage is at 26 avenue de Cambeyrac, on the road linking Rodez to Aurillac, on the right bank of the Truyère. The village is a thirteen-minute walk away, across the medieval bridge.

The nearest stations and airports are Rodez and Aurillac. The region is hard to visit without a car: the places worth seeing are spread out and public transport is scarce. Plan on a vehicle, unless you are coming specifically to walk from the door.

Parking

A covered space is reserved for you in the private garage by the road.

One piece of advice that matters more than it sounds: reverse in. Not to make arriving easier, but leaving. Backing out onto the Rodez to Aurillac road, with limited visibility and steady traffic, is far trickier than driving out forwards.

The garage also lets you keep bikes under cover overnight.

Arrival and departure

We agree the times together when you book. Do let us know if you are arriving late: the drive from Rodez or Aurillac often takes longer than the satnav claims, and we would rather welcome you calmly.

Pets

They are accepted under conditions, by prior arrangement. Please raise it before booking rather than on arrival.

One non-negotiable rule: two ducks live in the entrance courtyard, which you share with the owners’ house. Pets must be kept on a lead there, without exception. It has been their territory longer than yours.

Optional services

• End-of-stay cleaning, €40 for the whole stay, if you prefer to leave without thinking about it.
• Bed linen, €10 per bed, for the whole stay.
• Bath linen, €5 per person.

These are requested when you book. The form prices them as you go, so you see the total before sending anything.

The wellness room

Wellness treatments are offered by appointment, on the floor below. Mention it in advance so the slot can be reserved.

The village day to day

Grocery, mini-market, two bakeries, butcher, pharmacy, medical centre, restaurants and a community cinema, all thirteen minutes on foot.

Large market on Friday mornings. In summer, a craft night market every Wednesday evening.

Worth packing

A few things people do not always think of, and that change the stay.

• A torch or head lamp. The path between the courtyard and the meadow is unlit, and the nights here are genuinely dark.
• Walking boots. The regional GR trail starts from the village, and the paths climb quickly into the hillsides.
• A jacket, even in August. On the Aubrac plateau it is routinely ten degrees cooler than by the river.
• Something against mosquitoes for evenings by the water.
• Your fishing permit, if you plan to cast a line. It can also be bought online or from outlets in the village.
• Bed and bath linen, unless you would rather hire it here.

A word about noise

The house sits on the Rodez to Aurillac road. Traffic can be busy at certain times, and it is mostly noticeable on the kitchen and bedroom 3 side. The two main bedrooms face the river.
