Entraygues-sur-Truyère, thirteen minutes on foot

Thirteen minutes on foot separate the cottage from the centre of Entraygues. The walk crosses the medieval bridge over the Truyère, a 13th-century structure listed as a historic monument. It is the sort of route to the shops you do not mind taking twice a day.

What there is to see

The village has kept its old lanes and some fine 15th and 16th-century half-timbered houses, with their characteristic overhangs. The castle, dating back to the 13th century, still watches over the confluence. To take it all in at once, climb to the Calvary viewpoint: the village, both rivers and the valleys open up together.

The tourist office publishes a numbered discovery trail with 21 stops, with a booklet available in French, English, Spanish, German and Dutch.

Shops and markets

The village is alive, which is far from a given at this size: grocery, mini-market, two bakeries, butcher, pharmacy, medical centre, restaurants, and even a community cinema.

The main market is on Friday morning. In summer, a craft night market brings the village out every Wednesday evening. It is the one to catch if your stay falls on it.
